SWAZ represents Zimbabwe at AIPS 87th Congress in Rabat, Morocco

HARARE – The Sports Writers Association of Zimbabwe (SWAZ) is taking part in the 87th International Sports Press Association (AIPS) Congress, being held in Rabat, Morocco, from May 13 to 17.

In a statement, SWAZ chairman Farayi Machamire confirmed the association is being represented by one of its executive members.

“The Sports Writers Association of Zimbabwe (SWAZ) is proudly represented at the 87th Annual AIPS Congress taking place in Rabat, Morocco,” Machamire said.

A SWAZ delegation is standing in for the chairman and board at this significant gathering, which marks the return of the AIPS Congress to African soil for the first time in over 20 years, he added.

The congress brings together global sports media professionals to discuss the future of sports journalism, digital content creation, and ethical standards in sports coverage.

Over the five-day program, delegates will engage with key stakeholders, including FIFA, the Football Federation of Morocco, and representatives of the Paris 2024 Olympic team.

The event officially opened on May 13 with the prestigious AIPS Sports Media Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner.

The congress continues with high-level sessions, including updates on the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, a panel on the evolving role of content creators in sports, and presentations from various continental media associations.

SWAZ’s presence underscores its commitment to ensuring Zimbabwe’s voice is heard on the international stage and to creating new opportunities for its members within the global sports journalism community.
